Examples of lives transformed.

All by LLS. All in 2023.

Dear Friends,

E. Anders Kolb, MD

It is fitting that the theme of this year’s Annual Report is Transforming Lives. As a pediatric hematologist oncologist, I’ve seen first-hand the difference that The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) makes in the lives of blood cancer patients and families through research funding, free services and resources, and policy advocacy.

Since joining LLS as President and CEO last May, my own life has been transformed in the very best of ways. I’m honored to lead this world-changing organization and humbly accept the opportunity to build on the legacy of Dr. Louis J. DeGennaro, a transformational leader and innovator who retired after 18 years at LLS—9 of them as President & CEO.

LLS is committed to transforming lives through our holistic approach across research, patient support and advocacy. This doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It is made possible by your generosity of heart and spirit. You are the engine powering the LLS mission, and I’m grateful to work alongside you as we drive bold progress in cancer care, treatment and policy. LLS’s comprehensive approach and multidisciplinary expertise sets us apart as a leading cancer nonprofit. Thanks to you, we are not only advancing innovative and more effective therapies, but we are working to ensure they are accessible to all patients. And at the same time, we are supporting patients and families through every step of their cancer experience—from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

At LLS we want everyone with blood cancer to live longer, better lives. With your help, we will continue transforming treatment, care and lives, so that our vision becomes an everyday reality.

Thank you for your partnership.

Dear Friends,

Jeff Sachs

I began volunteering with LLS nearly two decades ago to make a difference in the world. As a survivor of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), I wanted to do whatever I could to advance lifesaving blood cancer therapies and support patients and families dealing with these challenging diseases.

LLS is an organization that puts blood cancer patients at the center of everything it does.

I served on my regional board of trustees for ten years before joining LLS’s national board in 2017, where I’ve proudly served as Board Chair since 2022.

LLS’s comprehensive approach and thoughtful investment of resources positions it as a leader in blood cancer care. And your unwavering commitment to LLS’s mission has transformative power. With your support we’re able to provide blood cancer patients with hope, community, and longer, healthier lives.

Because of the talents you share and the sacrifices you make to help others, you are helping LLS transform lives. Thank you.

Jeff Sachs
